Yoga with Ada Newsletter
March 2021

In February, we discussed being kind to ourselves and others.  I found my self-kindness focus to be completing all my annual doctor visits — GP, dentist, eye doctor, audiologist etc.  I am happy to say, I am well 😊

Some suggestions from students include:

  • If you catch yourself in “negative” self-talk, stop and remind yourself that you wouldn’t talk to your best friend that way, and aren’t you, your best friend?
  • Commit to sending birthday cards to friends and family.  Maybe even expanding the number of people you routinely send cards to in order to brighten someone’s day.  You may be amazed at how making someone happy makes you happy too!
  • Realize that your body is doing all that it can to keep you healthy and alive.  Take good care of yourself, and be grateful for the health and well-being you have.
  • Quote from Robin Williams:
    • “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.  Be kind. Always.”

Thank you to all who have shared their thoughts!  Your messages brighten my day!

March usually includes all kinds of weather – both cold wintery weather, spring weather and sometimes a sunny day that makes you feel like summer.  It’s a time of change and rebirth as we see buds swell, soon to burst open and baby animals being born.

Instead of a theme for March, let’s remember and share March activities of the past, we enjoyed.  This could be as a child or as an adult.  I look forward to hearing your stories!

News and Notes:
Instead of a theme for March, let’s remember March activities we have enjoyed.  Please send me email or share during “community time” before most classes.

The March and April class schedules are now on the website.  Please be sure to register for the classes covered by your subscription.  The new Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra classes can be selected for your subscription or can be paid for separately by logging out of your account before purchasing the class.

Thank you for the testimonials you shared.  I am working to finish posting them.  I will also be working in March to create a free “props video” on how to make a bolster, or other props from items around the house.  If there is information you would like to see on the website, please let me know.  I will do my best, within my funding limits.

Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra were offered in February and I received many positive comments.    Thank you to those who participated!  I will be offering each of these classes again in March, so please review the class calendar and see if any work in your schedule.

Yogic Breathwork Workshop will start Tuesday, March 2 at 3p CST and there is still time to sign up if you are interested!  This workshop will run every Tuesday at 3:00 pm CST for 6 weeks.  Each session will be 1-hour.  It is for students who are interested in learning yoga breathwork (pranayama) techniques which:
  • Oxygenate the body and increase lung capacity
  • Reduce anxiety, stress and insomnia
  • Improve focus and self-awareness
  • Tone and balance the nervous system
Comfortable clothing should be worn and no prior experience is needed.  Students may sit in a straight-backed chair with no wheels or on the floor.  Props, such as blankets, cushions or blocks can be used to assist in finding a comfortable seated position.  Students will need a notebook for note taking or journaling, a box of tissues and a glass of water.  A Yoga Strap may also be used if you have one.  Classes will include teaching and review, answering questions, warm-ups, practice and homework.

If you are looking for a gift idea for a special someone, maybe a yoga class with Ada is a perfect choice!  Here are the steps you can take:
  1. Go to www.YogawithAda1.com
  2. If you have a subscription, go to your account and Logout before proceeding to #3.  Those without a subscription can go straight to #3.
  3. Go to the “Class Schedule” and purchase the class or classes, using your own email address and credit card.
  4. Forward the confirmation email to the gift recipient along with your personal greeting.  Please CC me at YogawithAda1@gmail.com, and I will add them to the class roster and know to expect them.

As always, please let me hear from you!  Your feedback and suggestions continue to inspire the additions and changes to my teaching and website.
